Housing Plus Inc has joined other Greater Atlanta Area nonprofits to form the Motel to Home Alliance's 1000 Families Initiative (#House1000).
The goal is to move 1000 families from extended stay properties into permanent housing by June 2024.
What began as a pilot project has now become a coordinated effort to provide families with housing stability as well as increase child welfare indicators. Housing Plus Inc has committed to housing 100 families as a part of the 1000 families initiative.
Many families initially move into extended stay locations as a short-term solution, but often find themselves unable to save the required amount to secure a place, while maintaining every day living expenses. The Motel-to-Home (M2H) model utilizes a 3-step approach: outreach, housing, and then aftercare. Program Assistants and volunteers canvass current occupants of hotels and motels inquiring which families are interested in obtaining permanent housing. Once a family agrees to begin the process, the team assists the families to obtain the necessary documents, apply and secure an approval. Additional assistance is then offered for a successful move.
The Motel To Home Initiative is a bold approach to a long standing issue. HPI is committed to housing 100 families: #House100. Your generous contribution will help provide the additional resources that are essential for these families. Your donation will provide furniture for a family who might have lost all of their belongings due to the inability to pay storage fees. Your monetary gift can ensure a family has pots and pans to cook their first meal in their new home. Every dollar counts toward giving a family a chance to gain stability and create a better future for their children.
If you are currently residing in a motel and would like to apply for assistance please fill out the application form.
